Lucy Alguire, RP (Q)

Before starting my career as a psychotherapist, I worked in the creative arts, in arts education and as an archivist. I continue to maintain my photography practice, especially when it comes to my passion for photo book making. The beautiful thing about art is that it allows the viewer to see the artist in a special way. It offers us a small window into their unconscious, innermost thoughts. This is the original spark that led me to pursue a career in psychotherapy. In my downtime, you’ll find me reading at the beach, cuddling with my cats, or hiking in the mountains.

I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), practicing out of Toronto, Ontario. I specialize in working with teenagers and young adults who are struggling with issues related to anxiety. For many of us, anxiety can be incredibly difficult to overcome and can impact all aspects of our lives. It can manifest as over-thinking, lowered self-esteem, an identity crisis, obsessive thoughts, or perfectionism. Anxiety can impact our physical health, including sleeping and eating habits, and can profoundly influence how we relate to others.

Using creativity, humour, and curiosity, my aim is to provide a playful and nonjudgemental space to explore and get to the root of these issues. Our goal in working together is for you to live more freely and openly as yourself.

My Outlook on Psychological Suffering

I view psychological symptoms as smoke signals. I believe that psychological symptoms that cause suffering are often sending us an important message, whether it be about our hidden conflicts, desires, or pain. Together, the goal is to explore what’s underneath these experienced difficulties to connect to the innermost parts of yourself. Rather than just extinguishing the fire, we’re looking at what started it in the first place.
